So the question here is obvious: What in the world is Joshua wearing?
The day started off so beautifully. We decided to drive north to the Tillamook area and drive the Three Capes scenic route (Cape Meares, Cape Kiwanda and Cape Lookout). It's October, so we figured the weather would be cold and dreary. Ha! Surprise, surprise - it was about 65 degrees and sunny. We were all wishing we had on shorts and sandals. Especially Joshua, after he stumbled on the beach right as a wave came ashore...
It may be hard to tell, but Joshua is SOAKED, head to toe! Later when we tugged his boots off and dumped them over sooo much water poured out of them! Hadn't that been uncomfortable and heavy for him for the previous hour?
Luckily we still had a bag of emergency clothes in the car, including socks, and Leif had actually thought ahead and brought Joshua's shoes so he was mostly dressed...except the shirt was short-sleeved and while it was a beautiful day it was still a little chilly, especially as we headed for this cave in Oceanside (far right on picture above). I'd brought an extra sweatshirt so Joshua got to wear it, except to say it was HUGE is an understatement. But he loved it and pretended the floor-length sleeves were wings to make him fly. :)
This is the other side of the cave. This half is natural; the other half was tunneled out purposely to connect the two sides.

Really, we couldn't believe it was October. The sun shone so brightly it was blinding. What a gorgeous surprise for our spontaneous end-of-summer trip to the coast.
That silhouette picture is priceless!
